Local Climate and Energy Plan Added by EkoPulseThe City Council is developing a Local Climate and Energy Plan as the main municipal instrument for energy transition and combating climate change. The process started in 2025 includes energy efficiency measures, renewable energy deployment, mitigation and adaptation, incorporating the previous work of the Adaptation Plan. Getxo's participation in BIK 2050 for the adaptation of the river Added by EkoPulseGetxo participates, along with other municipalities of the estuary and Basque administrations, in BIK 2050, a project for adaptation to floods, heat waves and sea level rise. The program foresees predictive modelling, a digital estuary twin, sensors and early warning systems, as well as shared governance.
